The Byrne Gallery is proud to announce “Things Are Not What They Seem…” the new gallery exhibition for October 2024, showcasing the unique metal sculptures of J-P Müller.
These metal sculptures focus the viewer on the unseen reality or other dimensions that underpin our perceived everyday realities.
Mr. J-P Müller, founder of OEC Engineering Corporation, draws from decades of structural and architectural design and fabrication. The work is profound.
Gallery owners Susan and Bill Byrne say, “We immediately knew that we had never seen anything else like this in over 30 years of reviewing artists.”
Müller wants the viewer to experience the beauty of form and shape, material and texture, but with an extra step – epiphany, insight, appreciation, surprise. Every viewer brings his or her own perception and interpretation to the artwork. This is the goal of great art. This exhibition focuses on this intersection of the artist and viewer.
The exhibit will be on display from October 2nd – November 3rd.
Everyone is cordially invited to attend. A reception will be held on Saturday, October 5th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
There will be an Artist Talk on Saturday, October 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
J-P Müller
“As an artist, I aim to create a spiritual connection with participants. I use the word ‘participants’ specifically because viewing is participating in these dimensions of work. I refer to my work as Static Dynamism, as the pieces are static, but engagement by participant animates them and gives them life.”
J-P highlights the duality of quantum physics and the interplay between the observer and his pieces evolving. J-P’s inspiration comes from the quantum mechanics theory the double-slit experiment and shows that particles like light can act as both waves and particles. When unobserved, they create an interference pattern, but when observed, they behave like particles, illustrating the impact of observation in quantum mechanics. J-P is an artist/engineer/fabricator with over 40 years of experience in artistic industrial design, construction, and custom fabrication. His education in Master Toolmaking was from the school Berner Fachhschule für Technik, located in Switzerland. J-P is an expert in creative design solutions for large-scale public realm installations. He is a master of custom fabrications that complement and enhance the built environment while engaging the human spirit with aesthetic excellence.
