The Byrne Gallery in Middleburg, VA presents three artists’ works representing both West Coast and East Coast influences in its Sea and Sky Exhibition, opening July 1 through August 28 at 7 West Washington Street in Middleburg, Virginia.

The exhibit will showcase paintings by Shima Shanti, a native Montanan currently residing in San Diego, California, who uses beeswax and fire in the ancient medium of 3-D encaustic art. Ten of her pieces will be on display during the Sea and Sky Exhibition, highlighting her impressionistic works of sky, clouds, and water in motion. Also featured are the paintings of Gerald Hennesy, an impressionistic master painter of Eastern landscapes whose focus on the Atlantic Ocean is both inspiring and breathtaking. Hennesy passed away earlier this year after a life filled with service to the U.S. military in World War II and the Korean conflict. He also held an equally applauded career as a painter. Hennesy’s son, Shawn Hennesy, will exhibit his beach scenes which evoke tranquil feelings reminiscent of walking the Eastern coastline. Shawn Hennesy’s oils on canvas twice won him a Top 100 award in the International Arts for the Parks competition and he previously served as president of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters.
